PatreCon is an annual, invite-only, three-day conference hosted by Patreon, designed to bring creators from diverse backgrounds together for an intimate, collaborative, and educational experience. As the lead designer, I was responsible for the direction and execution of the event, which took place in Downtown Los Angeles. Drawing inspiration from the interplay of structure and chaos in the creative process, the PatreCon identity captures the dynamic energy of creation.

IdentityPatreCon embodies the spirit of creative exploration, reflecting the diverse approaches creators take to bring their visions to life. As a brand committed to supporting creators, PatreCon embraces both the structured and unstructured paths to success. The conference celebrates the authentic highs and lows of the creative journey, fostering a space where creators can connect, grow, and navigate their unique paths together.  The identity seeks to convey harmony by blending structured and fluid design elements, reflecting the balance that emerges when contrasting forms come together.

PromotionTo drive registration, I designed a landing page and a series of animated graphics for social media promotion, ensuring a cohesive and visually compelling campaign that captured attention and encouraged sign-ups.

Entry/RegistrationThe entryway design created a welcoming first impression with bold signage, cohesive branding, and wayfinding using hand-drawn arrows. The registration area combined functionality and style, featuring branded kiosks, digital screens, and helpful staff. This seamless experience set the tone for the event, engaging attendees from the start.

ExperienceMany activations drew inspiration from nostalgic, analog design approaches. Embracing paper as a symbol of creative beginnings, we incorporated it in various ways. A wheat-pasted poster wall was a backdrop for social content, while a tear-off tab flyer installation invited attendees to select the creative challenge that resonated with the most. At the conference’s close, the collected tabs were launched from a confetti cannon, transforming individual struggles into a shared celebration of the creator community.

StageThe stage design mirrored the aesthetic of the main wheat-pasted poster wall, featuring a layered backdrop of encouraging messages and bold branding. This dynamic composition added depth and energy, reinforcing the event’s spirit of creativity and community.
